Cremation is offered in conjunction with our Compassionate Home Euthanasia. The doctor will take your loved one to the crematory after your appointment, and if you wish to keep the ashes, one of our team members will bring them back home to you.

Cremation is included in the price of home euthanasia if you do not want the ashes saved and returned to you. If you want to keep your loved one’s ashes, there is an additional charge. Please see our euthanasia or estimate pages for current pricing.

If your pet should pass away prior to the apointment, our doctor can usually pick them up and take them to the crematory if you wish. You may also bring them to Hawaiian Humane Society or your regular veterinarian if you don’t mind handling the transportation yourself. Our price for standalone cremation (below) includes a clay paw print and a mahogany urn with no engraving. You can also choose a biodegradable urn (for pets up to 50 lbs) at no additional charge or see our catalog for custom and engraved options.

Prices effective 5/1/2023 and are subject to change. Taxes included.

Help, my pet just passed away and I don’t know what to do

First of all, we’re very sorry for this loss – whether expected or not, losing a companion is tough. Take a deep breath, and remember you are grieving and be kind to yourself.

You don’t need to panic. Here are a few quick guidelines to help you while you make a plan.

  • Place something absorbent under their hindquarters and head. Puppy pads, towels, and blankets are all fine. This will catch any bodily fluids that may be expelled over the first several hours.
  • It’s not necessary but you can cover them with a blanket or towel as well if it makes you more comfortable. Outdoors, this may be a good idea to discourage flies.
  • Other pets in the home are usually fine if you want them to come say goodbye.
  • You don’t need to worry about keeping remains cool for the first 12 to 24 hours.
  • Odors are usually not an issue until 18-24 hours after death. If you’re concerned, you can place essential oils (also help to deter pests), baking soda, or candles (please don’t leave burning candles unattended, though) near your pet’s remains.
  • Rigor mortis (stiffening and rigidity of the muscles) will occur within one or two hours.
  • Hawaiian Humane Society, your regular vet clinic, an emergency clinic, or Oahu Pet Crematory are all able to accept your pet for cremation services. You will need to call ahead and provide your own transporation.
  • If you had scheduled a euthanasia appointment with us, one of our staff members will probably be able to come do a pickup for cremation during business hours if you need it.
